Chiropractic care can support recovery from common sports strains and help active people move better by restoring joint motion, easing muscle tension and building a plan of mobility and strength exercises. Care focuses on getting you back to activity safely, not just easing pain.

Common sports and activity problems

  • Lower back strain from lifting, golf or running
  • Neck and upper back stiffness from cycling or contact sports
  • Tight hips and hamstrings that limit stride or squat depth
  • Shoulder and upper back tension from throwing or overhead training
  • Recurring stiffness that slows recovery between workouts

How care works for athletes

Dr. Thomas starts with your sport, your training schedule and the movements that hurt. The exam looks at mobility, joint motion and muscle balance. Your plan may include gentle adjustments, mobility work and specific exercises, with the goal of returning to full activity as safely as possible.

If your exam suggests a fracture, ligament tear or other injury that needs imaging or medical care, you will be referred right away.

Recovery habits that help

  • Warm up with movement before stretching.
  • Build training load gradually, about 10 percent per week.
  • Prioritize sleep and rest days.
  • Use the hip flexor stretch, glute bridge and bird-dog from our stretch library.

See a medical provider first if you have

  • Swelling, bruising or deformity after an impact
  • Inability to bear weight or use the limb
  • A pop at the time of injury followed by instability
  • Any head injury or concussion symptoms
