Dr. Jacob Thomas uses six chiropractic techniques: the Activator Method, Thompson Drop-Table, Gonstead, Diversified, Webster and Torque Release Technique (TRT). He also offers spinal decompression. Having several techniques means care can be gentle and low-force or hands-on and specific, depending on your exam and preference.
Activator Method
Dr. Thomas completed Activator Basic Protocol training in 2025. A small, spring-loaded handheld instrument delivers a quick, light impulse to a specific joint, with no twisting or popping. It is often chosen for patients who are sensitive, older, very sore or who simply prefer a gentle adjustment.
Thompson Drop-Table
Dr. Thomas completed Thompson Basic training in 2025. Sections of a special table rise slightly and drop a fraction of an inch as the adjustment is given. The drop helps move the joint, so less force is needed. Many patients describe it as a quick, gentle bump.
Gonstead
A hands-on, very specific technique. Dr. Thomas carefully analyzes how each segment of your spine moves, then adjusts only the areas that need it, often with you seated or lying on your side.
Diversified
The most widely used manual adjusting technique in chiropractic. Precise, hands-on adjustments restore normal motion to stiff joints in the spine and extremities. You may hear a gentle pop as gas releases from the joint.
Webster Technique
A specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment for the pelvis and sacrum, commonly used during pregnancy to support pelvic balance and comfort. Learn about our prenatal care and first trimester offer.
Torque Release Technique (TRT)
Dr. Thomas completed Torque Release Technique training in 2025. TRT is a gentle, low-force technique that uses a handheld instrument called the Integrator to deliver precise adjustments. Like Activator, it avoids twisting and is comfortable for most ages.
Spinal decompression
A non-surgical approach that gently stretches the spine to take pressure off discs and nerves. Read more on our spinal decompression page.

Which technique is right for me?
Dr. Thomas chooses the approach based on your exam, your comfort and your goals, and explains each step before he starts. You can always ask for a lighter option.
